Hello everyone! Welcome to my movie blog! When researching movie
blogs, I've found that there are mixed feelings about this type of internet
criticism. Film criticism used to be a very exclusive privilege reserved for
people associated with various television networks and other print media. In
today's world however, anyone with a love for movies and an internet connection
is able to post their feelings about what they think is good and bad in the
world of film. They can now do this without the pressure of editors and other
authority figures censoring their work to safeguard against that which is not
politically correct. The downside is that these new internet critics are doing
so without the credentials you would expect from say a film critic working for
rottentomatoes.com . One site “everyonesacritic.net” allows anyone of its users
to post their reviews for others to read. Other online film reviewers like the “online
film critics society” is an international group of professional film critics
that review movies from an academic standpoint. Online blogging has changed the
world of movie criticism in a big way. Special interest groups often create
sites that review movies from the groups’ unique perspectives. For instance
there is a growing number of “parent sites” that that review movies so parents
know what kind of subject matter will be presented to their children. Other
sites review movies through a religious framework such as sites that rate
movies on how “Christian” they are. Another great development in online movie
reviewing is the fact that people can now follow a certain person and get
reviews from those critics who have demonstrated reviewing techniques that are consistent
with the readers’ preferences. Since I
am not a movie critic by trade, this blog will simply be an expression of
movies I enjoyed and some I did not. I do not claim to have paramount knowledge
on what makes great award-winning cinema, I’m just a college student with a love
for movies and a teacher who made me create this
blog.
